What is the difference between our patterns and others?
We have researched ours as completely as possible assure some of the most correct patterns on the market. In addition to getting the correct general look from fashion plates, we have also studied garments in museum collections, period drafting systems, and photographs of real people of the time period. We have listed below each time frame our patterns that fall within it.

1868-1875
General Characteristics- shoulder seams slope to the back, armscye slightly low on arm(slight drop shoulder), bodice cut with back, side back and front pieces. Skirts gored with fulless set in back in gathers or pleats to allow for bustle.

Early Bustle era Bodice

1876-1880

General -Characteristics- shoulder slightly low to natural position, shoulder seam sloping to back of bodice. Bodice cut with extra piece at side for closer fitting. The only period in Victorian era side forms may be cut to shoulder instead of armscye.

The Lady's Dressmaker
- Natural form/Bustle Era Bodice Manual

1879-1888
Armscye cut at natural position. Sleeves generally cut in two pieces(coat style) with top and under sleeve, and slim fitting.
Elaborate bustle skirts often made on own foundation. Asymmetrical designs popular.

1889-1893
Skirt's lose bustle, bodice becomes simpler, often pointed in front. Sleeves start to show fullness of leg-of-mutton.

Our patterns are produced individually by us in our own shop-
please allow 2 weeks for production in case we haven't got them in stock.
