Dresser tray planned for 2007 camps

Where do we get our ideas? We have a large library of original period magazines and books, as well as a collection of period sewing items. Some books we used in planning this class are original Godey's, Turn of the century McCall's magazines, Petersons, Demorest, Butterick's Pretty Pursuits for Children 1897,Motherly Talks with Young Housekeepers by Mrs. H.W. Beecher, Three Meals a Day(a turn of the century cookbook), McGuffey's Eclectic Readers, A Girls Own Book, School of Needlework(1897), Hillgroves Ballroom Guide and Practical Dancer, Manners Culture and Dress of the Best American Society(1891)

Sewing

Last years sewing kit design Skills learned- running stitch, gathering, hemming, cutting out pattern, tearing on the straight, embroidery

Cooking School

Jelly Making Gingersnaps Homemade Ice-cream (Peppermint!) Spice Muffins
	The girls bring home a set of Old fashioned recipe cards with all the things they have made!

The girls get to take all their projects home at the end of camp!
