Cowboys
The costume help listed in here is meant to have a historical "feel" and be as accurate as possible
while remaining on a budget.
I will try to explain the main parts of the costume and list what they were made of and
what an inexpensive substitute would be.
Be aware this is not used for true historical reenactment,
but instead suggestions to help kids "get into" history.
If you want true historical patterns please check out the links section.

Contrary to popular belief, you would not have likely seen a cowboy in a pair of jeans, levis or Wranglers! More than likely they would be wearing wool pants, a button up shirt, and a wool or cotton twill vest. The hat is also likely to not be like the modern cowboy hat- rather a more rounded top, without the sharply curled up sides.

Try going through a thrift store for wool pants and vests. Print or white, or stripe shirts, suspenders and a hat and boots will complete the look. Chaps are nice but not necessary and are like step in tubes for the legs.
