1887 Day Dress
In a Cotton Print

Using the fashion plate shown as a basis, and the request that the bustle be "big as a door" I constructed this late 1880's bustle dress to the customer's specifications. (She's also the happy owner of the Worth gown in rose and brown). The overskirt required alot of hand stitching and draping on the maniquin to get the look I was wanting, but the effort was worth it! It is made of a cotton print in a brick red, with a diamond pattern in gold and navy, the accent for the dress is in black velveteen, with hand covered buttons and wide velveteen trim on the skirt and overskirt.

From Lisa-"Thank you again for such an amazing outfit! The bustle is just the way I wanted it. I am so pleased with the way it looks that I don't have the heart to hang it in the closet. I have placed it on my dressmaker's form so I may admire it. I can't believe the amount of detail you put into every stitch...right down to the hooks
and eyes! Thank you again Marna Jean for making my textile dreams come true!"

1882 Print Polonaise

Remember the 1882 wool polonaise? well, here's what it looks like in a cotton print!
Its the same pattern made in a lighter weight fabric and a larger size- this time we've trimmed it with a cotton "heirloom" lace in ivory. The print is 100% cotton in navy blue and tan, and the skirt is navy blue kona cotton with a foundation of black polished cotton.
