Gay 90's Dresses-1890-1900

A Cotton Print Day Dress circa 1892

A beautiful day dress for a transitional period of fashion. The sleeves are showing the fullness that would fully develop around 1893-4 and the skirt is becoming simpler, yet maintains the back fullness to give it a very graceful set.
The bodice features a shirred front panel to add shape and a "false jacket" look in a one piece bodice. The skirt is trimmed with self bias trim and a wide flounce. Made as a wedding gown to wear at a historic cabin site.

Blue Print Dress
1892

A simple cotton day dress circa 1892. Black velvet ribbon is its only trim, but the pointed basque and echoing ribbon yoke add character to an otherwise plain dress. This gown was made as a maid of honor dress to go with the wedding dress above.
