A Silk Dress circa 1895

A silk charmuse dress perfect for a reception, tea party or wedding dress. The bodice buttons up the back, and has a bloused front accented by a high neckline and applied lace. The sleeves are two piece with a chiffon sleeve cap that floats from the shoulder. The skirt is simply cut but elegant in its trained length with applied lace around the bottom edge.

Gauze Dress 1893- 1895

An elegant yet simple design for the mid 1890's The fabric is a cotton gauze in black with peach and blue pinstripes. The skirt is made with a polished cotton lining and is only joined to the gauze at the waistline.
The bodice is a simple basque style, with fitted polished cotton undersleeves and semi-large leg-o-mutton gauze sleeves over this. The unique feature of the bodice is that the gauze is laid in 4 radiating pleats from center front to take up the fullness (from an 1893 delineator). It is finished at the bottom edge with black velvet piping, and accented at the neckline with a removable collar.

Museum Replica circa 1889-1891

This is a very special dress- around here we referred to it as the "museum rep" It is made after a dress listed on www.antiquedress.com (check them out- great stuff) It is silk satin and velvet and much larger than the original (which you can see wouldn't even close around the maniquin) I used an antique buckle (not an exact match but not bad) and the finish work on the inside is such you could lay it out inside out first for the customer (the mark of a fine seamstress) It even has it's very own page so you can see it inside and out against the original
