1890's Patterns

Dresses-1890-1900

Skirts are now shaped to look like upside down cones and trumpets- skirts were circular (1/2-3/4 circle), or gored (usually in odd numbers-5, 7, 9...) The working girl was appearing in more numbers and waist and skirt combinations were in demand for ease of cleaning. Dresses were more tailored, but the sleeves were growing- between the years of 1893-1897 the revival of the leg-o-mutton sleeve would be at its peak, a relapse of fashion in memory of Queen Victoria's youth. The Gibson girl would make her appearance and reign supreme through the Edwardian era.
